IOMAA OPEN Meeting
Well done to all our club athletes who took part in the third and final round of the IOMAA Open Meeting held on Monday 13th August 2012 @ the NSC Douglas. Results from the event can be found here.

England Athletics u17 Age Group Championships
18th & 19th August saw action from the 2012 England Athletics under 17 Age Group Championships. Feeling like the hottest day of the year, it wasn’t just the weather which was hot, some scorching performances were on display for the Bedford crowd... full report

IOMAA squad session of the 2012/2013 season, which takes place on Sunday 28th October at QE2 Secondary School.
Please meet outside the QE2 Gym.
Please ensure you are ready to start training at 9.30am prompt, training will end at around 12pm.
The session could include both indoor and outdoor elements, so please come prepared.
Sessions will be delivered by qualified coaches.
I would advise that all athletes bring track spikes ( if you have them ), change of clothing, drink ( water or appropriate energy drink ) + food ( healthy sandwiches/energy bars for after the session ).

Winter NSC training
Our winter training sessions have now started up at the NSC every Mondays from 5:45pm - 7pm.
Training will be delivered by UKA level 2 coaches covering all aspects of athletics. Please wear appropriate clothing to suit the weather conditions and bring a drink.

END to END walk 2012
Great race walking come back by club walker Janice Quirk pictured here on her way through Peel. Janice won the Ladies race in a time of 07:19:39 some 25 minutes ahead of the next lady on the road and finished 4th overall.
Also a big well done to all our other club walkers who took part in this years event.

Western 10 road run and Julie Brew Memorial 10 mile walk
Well done to all the runners and walkers who took part in this year’s races. The good weather bought out many new and old faces to compete in this year’s event. With many of you beating your personal bests.
The 10 mile road run was eventually won by Ed Gumbley 56.53, 2nd Mike Garrett 57.52 and 3rd Kevin Deakes 61.57 and in the Ladies race 1st Nikki Boyd 67.44, 2nd Gail Griffiths 69.05 and 3rd Jackie Lee 69.52. In the walk 1st Jock Waddington 1 hour 26mins, 2nd Richard Gerrard 1.28 and 3rd Vinny Lynch 1.30. The ladies walk was won by Michelle Turner 1.31, 2nd Janice Quirk 1.38 and 3rd Stephanie Quayle 1.49 for a full list of provisional results click the button below.
Thank you to all the officials and marshals who help put on such a great event each year and to Peel AFC for the use of their facilities afterwards. Also to the girls for putting on the refreshments both during and after the race in the club house.
CROSS COUNTRY 2012-2013
ROUND ONE - 21st October 2012 - Ballanette, Lonan - hosted by Manx Harrier
Well - done to all our x-country runners who took part in the 1st round at Ballanette, Lonan. Big thank you to all the officials and helpers who give up there time to put on such events.
A good time was had by all who attended our club festive social evening at the Highwayman in Peel. Plenty of good food and chat in good company.
Cross - Country
11th November 2012 - Glen Lough - hosted by Western AC
Well done to all the runners who took part in round 2 of this seasons Microgaming X-Country.
A slippery and muddy course saw some tricky stages around the course. With 4 missing shoes and 1 lost then found tooth the day was a great success. Thanks to all the officials and helpers on the day and to Peter Kelly for making the soup.
Ramsey Firemans Road Races
A good turnout of Western A C runners (15), making up over quarter of the 60 runners who took part in the 3 lap race in round 2 of this popular road race series. Thank you to all the officials who turn out for each round.
Isle of Man Bank sponsored Winter Hill League race held at Glen Helen
Top performance by club running Brothers Jason & Shaun Moore finishing in 3rd & 4th place. Also having a good run was junior Alex Bell finishing in 37th place out of 74 finishers. Bithday girl Jackie Moore took a tumble but we are glad to report she was ok-ish and was helped to the line by hubby Barry. Big thank you to all the officials and Marshals next round Slieu Whallian on 15th December the final race of the series.
Western AC Indoor High Jump Championships
Well done to all our club jumpers who took part in this years indoor club championships, with some only jumping for the first time on the evening.
Haldane Fisher Syd Quirk Half Marathon
Well done to club runner Ben Scott on a well deserved 2nd place in a time of 1:20:54 and to the other 14 club runners who took part in this years event. Also to our walkers who took part in the walking event.
This years event saw108 runners and 56 walkers who finished the races.

Please note that there will be no training from now until the new year, when we start back again with our NSC Session on the 7th Jan, Club pack run on the 9th Jan and indoor sessions at the QE2 on 10th Jan.
