The IOMAA has launched a savings scheme for those athletes and families/supporters who hope to attend the Island Games in Bermuda in July 2013.  If you would like the opportunity to make regular savings commencing 1st August 2011 to 1st March 2013 towards the costs of transport and accommodation, please contact Cheryl on mail@iomaa.info for more information.



Outdoor training

Free taster evening is on 19th April at on the QE2 playing fields starting at 6:30pm so come along and give athletics a go in this Olympic year your never know you might be the next big star.


Dave Phillips Road Race Series Date the races will be on the following dates:-

13th April, 27th April, 11th May, 15th June.

The last round and presentation have been moved to 13th July.


The Clocks have gone back and the dark evenings are here again. As an incentive to keep on training or if you just want to get fit or fitter, why not join us at 6:15pm every Wednesday (even in the rain) at the QE2 for a pack run around Peel. You must be able to run upto 5 miles. Please wear reflective bibs or light coloured clothes also that the run is not for junior members.

Ramsey Fireman's Run Round 4 Results


In far from ideal weather conditions on the night saw 48 runners compete in the 3 lap race and 16 in the 1 lap race. On the night saw Robert Lace coming home 1st in the 3 lap handicap race and Ian Postlethwaite in the 1 lap.




Lancashire Track and Field Championships Trip- Blackpool, Sat 12th & Sun 13th May 2012


We are again planning on taking a group of athletes to the Lancashire T&F Champs in Blackpool in May.

English Institute of Sport, Sheffield

Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th January 2012


Well done to club sprinter Jack Lemaire on his fine performance over the weekend. Competing in both the 60 and 200 meter races.

Jack got his season off to a good start in the under 17 men’s 60 meter sprint recording  a time of 7.45 seconds, he also went on to record a time of 24.26 seconds over the longer distance in the 200 meters. May this be the beginning of a promising season.

Out of 8 teams in both the girls and boys competition they came 6th.




30th Anniversary Brass Monkey Half Marathon Sunday 22 January 2012


Clare Frisby of BBC Look North started the 1677 runners off on a cold and windy morning. Clare's husband was also running in the race.


Westerns to husband and wife team Jackie and Barry Moore said that they always enjoy running this friendly event  and would recommend it. This years race finished into a strong head wind.

Chip times were, Barry 1:32:52 and Jackie 1:57:06 Well done to you both.

Many thanks goes out to all who helped out with the final round in this year’s x-country league. From marking the course out in the morning to officiating the race you know who you are and without you such events couldn’t be held.

Cross Country Prize Presentation will take place from 7.30 p.m. on Tuesday 27th March 2012 at the South Douglas Old Friends Association, Finch Road, Douglas.

UK Olympic Decathlete Daniel Awde takes an unscheduled training session at the NSC for some lucky local athletes. Daniel who had been invited over to help promote BodyHelix Europe, took time out to put island youngsters through some sprint drills.


Northern League 2012


As some of you already know the Isle of Man Athletics Association has decided that for a trial season

all 3 track and field clubs on the island will compete as Team Isle of Man for this years UK Northern League.

There will be two teams, A and B, and as usual there will be four matches in total for the following dates-

National Coach


Malcolm Fenton, National Coach Mentor for Englannd Athletics returns to deliver a follow on session from his November Strength and Conditioning workshop.

Malcolm Fenton, England Athletics National Coach Mentor for heavy throws returns to the island to expand on his previous workshop last November using video analysis to improve athlete performance in the shot putt, hammer and discus.  Utilising Casio High Speed cameras and Quintic analysis software you can look at the finer details of throws technique to see what specifically your athletes need to work on to take their throwing to the next level.

Manx Lancs at Inter Counties!

Westernac Peel Well-done goes out to club runner Jak Morris who finished 190 out of 255 athletes in a time of 21:46 U17 M after being selected to run for Lancashire and to the on form former club member Kieth Gerrard on winning the U20 278 strong field.

Jak Morris 10k Results

Well done to all the Western athletes who took part in the 10k race hosted by the Veteran Athletes’ Club on Thursday night, It was nice to see the event was well supported, nearly 50 runners on the night. With some club runners covering the distance for the first time while some old hands were setting new PB's.


Not long now until the first round of this years Dave Phillips memorial series starts 13th April 2012
