COMPETITION RULES

1. The first race will now be a Time Trial on which future handicaps will be based. If an athlete does not compete in the first Race to attain a TimeTrial on which his/her handicap can be based, the athlete's FIRST race will be a Time Trial on which the handicap for the next race is based. If an athlete's first race is after Race 1 (Time Trial) his/her start will be by mutual agreement between the athlete and handicapper, and the actual finishing time will be slotted into the Time Trial results from Race 1. Therefore all Race 1 Time Trial points will be allocated after Race 4.

2. These alterations are a result of the athlete survey following the 2003 Series.

3. The Handicapper will work on a two-lap time of 36 minutes e.g. if your running time is 26 minutes, the start time for your next run in the series will be TEN minutes. Similarly, the one-lap race will be worked out at 20 minutes - if your running time is 18 minutes, you will start on 2 minutes in the next race. Every time you run your handicap will be adjusted, but will not be DECREASED by more than one minute (ie 5 mins. to 6 mins.)

4. All runners must declare at their first run what age group they are in, based on age on the first race date - 2nd April. All competitors will stay in that age group for the series. (Please complete separate form). All athletes must sign the Declaration Sheet when signing-on at the start to comply with Risk Assessment.

5. Scoring system : Race winner 60 points, 2nd place 58 points, 3rd 56 points, 4th 54 points, 5th 53 points, and so on to last person . In the event of a points tie at the end of the series, the points scored in your 5th Race will be taken into consideration, then 6th and so on.

Once again, on every Race Night there will be a prize for the winner in each Race.

6. Series Awards: 2- and 4-Lap Races. Prizes will be given for the first 12 places overall for each Race. All athletes competing in four or more Races will receive an award.

The fastest male and fastest female in both 2 and 4 laps races will receive awards, provided they have qualified for the series.

Junior Races - Under 9 Boy and Under 9 Girl, Under 11 Boy and Under 11 Girl

Award for the first three in each age group, awards will be presented after the last Race, with a Buffet for all Competitors. Alterations to the above may be made at any time.
